Biography
Former CNN Headline News anchor and correspondent Bob Losure reached a total of 230 speaking and emcee presentations in March, 2010, telling his story of beating cancer and living his dream in a dramatic evening presentation before cancer survivors at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, GA. Bob’s winning battle over testicular cancer 25 years ago included multiple operations and sessions of chemotherapy, and Bob miraculously survived to take a seat in the anchor chair at CNN Headline News during CNN’s early years in Atlanta. His story of never giving up has been told to some of the most prestigious cancer groups in the nation, including Houston’s M. D. Anderson Cancer Center and Provena St. Joseph’s Medical Center in suburban Chicago.
Top companies including Mercedes-Benz, RadioShack, BellSouth, OfficeMax, Edison Electric Institute, and the Outdoor Advertising Association of America have used Bob’s on-stage skills to interview top newsmakers including the late Walter Cronkite, Donald Trump, G-E Chairman Jeffrey Immelt, PBS anchor Judy Woodruff, former House Minority Leader Tom Delay, and former Homeland Security Chief Tom Ridge. He has presented keynotes as far away as Pusan, South Korea, to the Junior Chamber International World Congress, and anchored a one-hour newscast onboard the Holland America Lines ship MS Westerdam for some 700 international heavy equipment dealers sailing across the Caribbean.
As a CNN reporter in the 80s and 90s, Mr. Losure gave live reports from the scene of the San Francisco earthquake, the deadly Avianca Airliner crash on Long Island, Nelson Mandela’s historic visit to Atlanta, and Manuel Noriega’s capture and return to Miami from Panama. In San Diego in 2006, Bob anchored the first daily internet-based real estate TV news show, DNN.TV, and the show reached millions through Yahoo.com.
In 2008, he moderated a two-hour global warming debate attended by former White House advisor Karl Rove at the Chicago-area YPO Convention in Tucson, Arizona; emceed the JC Bamford Convention in Las Vegas; and moderated the Novartis Pharmaecuticals Conference in L.A. At one convention in Las Vegas, Bob hosted a press conference for news media members from around the world, posed questions to convention attendees on-stage at a packed Venetian ballroom, and moderated a 60-minute Q&A session with author Carl Bernstein.
Today, Mr. Losure is also in demand in voiceovers and on-camera corporate and commercial videos. His narration of ESPN2’s Territories Wild with Tom Miranda outdoors show Saturday and Sunday mornings is now in its ninth year; and south Florida-based Newsmax Magazine, San Diego’s InLab Ventures, the long-distance calling device magicJack, and the rare metals seller Goldline owe much of their success to Bob’s on-camera appeal in 2009 and 2010.
Among the awards Bob cherishes most is his induction into The Order of West Range, Pi Kappa Alpha’s highest alumni honor, joining only one other broadcaster: ABC’s Ted Koppel.
